Mrs. Ruth Clark Reedy was born in Corsicana, Texas. She lived in Alexandria, LA from early childhood through college. She received a B.A. degree from Louisiana College in Pineville and a Library Science degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana, with additional study at LSU. She served as librarian at Lake Charles High School from 1942 to 1961. The LCHS library won the LLA Modisette Award for excellence during her tenure there.
In 1961, Mrs. Reedy was employed by McNeese State University as librarian over the Materials Center. In 1972 she became the library director of Frazar Memorial Library, the University’s main library.
Scope and Content Note
The collection contains a scrapbook relating to Mrs. Reedy being awarded the Louisiana Library Association’s Essae M. Culver Distinguished Award in 1980. The collection also contains material relating to her retirement from McNeese’s Frazar Memorial Library in 1979, photographs from various library functions, and other photographs of Mrs. Reedy.
